THIS MACHINE HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY OVERHAULED, SERVICED, LUBED AND ADJUSTED WITH NEW BELT AND BOBBIN WINDER RUBBER.
This is a NEAR MINT CONDITION FULLY SERVICED HEAVY DUTY SINGER MODEL 239 sewing machine. This machine dates from 1968, it is somewhat spartan, but it makes up for that in being very heavy duty. This machine is all Cast Iron with all metal internals making the machine almost commercial grade. The machine is a straight stitch machine only and it has lever reverse and adjustable stitch length. Runs by a foot pedal controller which may not be visible in the pictures. It is mounted in a wood portable carrying case.
THE MACHINE IS ALL IRON AND IT IS HEAVY
This machine can sew through a 1/8” inch thick leather belt (see video) using upholstery nylon thread. Although I don't think it can sew holsters or saddles, it can sew some thick stuff & should be good for any garment, quilt, purse, wallet, boat cover or upholstery job. It would have no problem sewing multiple layers of vinyl, suede, canvas, Sunbrella, Cordura, Duck, sail cloth, garment leather, denim or jeans.
You may bring samples to test the machine as well as your thread, but I have some stuff to demo it with, as well as I can give you a brief lesson on how to operate the machine.
This heavy duty machine can sew through what the new machines (even modern heavy duty machines) just can't touch, built when Singer made a good quality product.
