VINTAGE 1972 SCHWINN SUPER SPORT SINGLE SPEED (can be made into fixed gear)
Super Sports were just under the Paramount in the early 70's Schwinn line up. Their hand made, fillet brazed CrMo frames were made in same shop as Paramount frames. They then were put on the regular Schwinn production line and got standard colors and regular parts EXCEPT the nice leather Brooks saddle and alloy wheels (a premium over steel wheels at the time). I hot-rodded this model and replaced some cheap, heavy parts with lighter modern versions, but preserved what was great. The nice handmade frame is the key feature, it rides so smooth. New Alex R500 700c wheelset with Formula sealed hubs and stainless spokes turned this heavy classic into a light weight hot rod! Modern dual pivot long reach front brake gives excellent stopping power. I'm an engineer who likes details. Notice I painted the background of the Schwinn "S" on the stem with matching orange paint so it stands out.
A single speed lets you enjoy your ride and coast as you wish without worrying about changing gears. I've got this one geared for casual neighborhood and trail rides. This ride can easily made into a fixed gear (no coasting) with the purchase of a fixed cog and lock ring. I'm even sending along extra matching chain links if you need to lengthen it.

Drivetrain has 38 teeth chainring in front and 16T single speed rear
New front long reach brake, lever, bar tape, pedals
Tires are period gum wall Kenda's and are near new
Bike was cleaned and lubed top to bottom. Many new components mentioned above. Hot rodding old classics to rid the heavy old parts and adding new where needed is the latest trend. Here's a turn key example. You can enjoy a cool '70's hand made frame dream ride and have your bike appreciate at the same time. This bike is ready to ride after you fine adjust bars and seat for your size.
WILL IT FIT?
This bike is for a taller rider. Bike is 24" measured from center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube. Note the seat tube extends past the top tube though. Standover is 32 1/4" inches. You need to be able to clear that with a little extra. Top tube is abut 22 1/2" center to center.
