We had a Honda Odyssey and my wife and I carried 2 kayaks or sometimes our 21' double. My wife is 5'2" and it was just too challenging to get on and off from the rear even with rollers and cradles. Her 14' we used traditional rollers as it weighs 35 pounds, my 17' we used the Hullavator and it is pretty easy. The 21' was more of a challenge and I had to stand on a step stool to get enough leverage to get the gas-powered rail started.

Caveat Emptor: If you need parts for the Hullavator itself you will have to get them from an OEM supplier. There are several. Thule doesn't carry the parts for the 897XT. However, some parts are interchangeable with the 898 Pro but you have to compare the pics. For example, a knob rolled off the side of a cliff and the 898 used the same knob. But be aware that this is discontinued but parts are still available through third parties. Before contacting me, I would suggest you go look at a couple of videos online (search Thule 897XT). If you already have the Thule rails installed then this is a no brainer but if not, you will end up spending several $100's more to get a complete system.

Review the photos, look online, etc.

If you are wondering at 220,000 miles, we replaced the Odyssey with a Subaru Outback and went back to a J-rack and rollers since we no longer had the height issue.

For a prompt response send me your first name, cell# and where you will be coming from to pick up the item so we can work out the day and time of the exchange.
