Overhauled at Pecknel Music in Greenville, SC and picked up 9/29/25. Receipt in case. Purchased to restore and sell as I continue my journey of attempting to play all the great vintage horns.
Outstanding sound and has what I call that “American muscle car” feedback to it where you can feel every ounce of energy you put into it. It definitely has a “focused” sound and feel with excellent intonation, which I contrast with my 1950 SBA which is more free blowing with wild intonation. Once you figure out the ergonomics (which really aren’t bad, just different), it’s a blast to play. Pairs extremely well with a Ted Klum Yardbird and a Morgan Kind of Blue, but my go-to would be the Yardbird.
All the gold springs appear to be in place, and the horn does not appear to have ever suffered any major damage. There is one small ping in the bow, otherwise the horn is in incredible shape.
Bought from a tremendously nice family; belonged to the gentleman’s mother who played this horn in high school and it has been sitting around ever since. Has what I believe is the original mouthpiece and a Brillhart which is significantly damaged but possibly salvageable.
USA only. PPFF or Venmo. Buyer pays shipping; horn will be packed with care. Would prefer a local pickup if possible, and potentially willing to drive and meet the buyer to avoid mailing.
P.S. Just an extensive mouth surgery and am unable to post a sound clip right now. If the listing lasts for a few weeks, I will record a video and sound clip once I am cleared to play.
