Abel Axe guitars were conceived by Jeff Abel of Wyoming and designed/engineered by James Jones. Abel Axe LLC manufactured them from 1994 - 1996, and again in 2001 with body slots instead of holes. Less than 250 1994-1996 Abel Axe guitars swiss cheese style body and Only 20 in Aluminum Silver color were built.
Abel Axe guitars were produced from 1992 to 1996.
Designer/inventor Jeff Abel spent two years from 1992 to 1994 in research and development refining his aluminum body/wood neck concept. Due to the nature of the dense body material, the sustain and harmonics produced are markedly different compared to traditional wood technologies. The Abel Axe body is CNC machined from a solid slab of aircraft grade aluminum and the finished guitar weighs in at only 8 pounds. The colors offered are then anodized to the body, and become part of the aluminum during the process. Assisted by his brother, Jim Abel, Jeff Abel produced limited custom orders. Abel estimates only 250 guitars were built. This is very rare Natural Aluminum Abel Axe with twin Kent Armstrong humbuckers.
